These kits are specially designed for parents, to help them prevent and fight against teen drug abuse. Each kit contains a number of drug tests, as well as nicotine and alcohol tests (drinking and smoking can indicate more serious substance abuse to come). Testing for adulterants will ensure the validity of the drug test. Takers may attempt to cheat the test with commercially purchased products and/or common household products by ingesting or adding directly to the test. These products would act as an adulterant and cover up the presence of drugs in the urine sample, which would result in a false negative.
