At the end there is a semi-circular cuff for receiving the forearm. The forearm fixture is slightly angled back and, together with the standard shape grip handle, it allows support that removes loading to one or both of the patient’s legs. The moulded forearm fixture prevents the crutch from buckling away when it is heavily loaded. The crutches are made of metal tubing (light metal or steel), have lightweight flexible, slip-free rubber tips and are normally height adjustable. Crutches for heavy loading are not adjustable and thus must be precisely matched to the patient’s body size by cutting to length.
