Xtend Fuel Cell Sensor Technology

The BACtrack Element employs highly accurate Xtend fuel cell sensor technology, allowing it to be used for professional, medical, and law enforcement applications. This technology provides more accurate and more consistent results as compared with semi-conductor breathalyzers. It will not show a false positive for someone who is diabetic or on a low-calorie diet.

Despite its small size, the BACtrack Element packs serious technology inside its black plastic casing. There is a miniature air pump inside the Element that activates at the end of each breath sample. You can actually feel the "click" during each test. This proprietary internal sampling system ensures that a precise breath sample enters the alcohol fuel cell sensor, and is one of the reasons why the Element provides trusted, accurate results every test.

Because the Element uses Xtend Fuel Cell Technology, it is trusted as an alcohol screening device by law enforcement, militaries, hospitals, businesses, and many other professional groups. The Element has been tested by the DOT/NHTSA (Department of Transportation/National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and meets their requirements for a breath alcohol screening device. When Dr. Phil McGraw, host of The Dr. Phil Show, needed breathalyzer testing for his show, he called BACtrack. BACtrack breathalyzers were used on multiple Dr. Phil shows where BAC testing was required. Dr. Phil has gone on record saying he is a proponent of BACtrack personal breathalyzers for reducing the incidences of intoxicated driving. Similarly, in August 2011, when The Wall Street Journal tested peoples' BAC levels after consuming alcohol, the Journal turned to BACtrack. Simple Operation

The Element is simple to use. Insert the two AAA batteries that come with the product, and it's ready to test. When you press the start button, the BACtrack Element counts down for approximately 10 seconds, preparing the system for a breath sample. When the countdown reaches zero, blow steadily and continuously for at least 5 seconds. If a sufficient breath sample has been taken, the user's estimated BAC is displayed on the screen.

If a proper air sample is not taken, the Element clearly displays a warning message, and the countdown can be restarted for a re-test.
